Grandpa had a drill. I had a keyboard.
My grandfather could walk into his garage with an idea and walk out with the thing: a shelf, a birdhouse, a fix for whatever was broken. A drill, a pegboard of tools, and his hands.
Then an IBM PCjr showed up at our house. I typed a few lines, pressed Enter, and something existed that hadn't a minute before. I realized I could build as fast with my hands on a keyboard as he could with a drill on his bench.
When I was 12, I started George Joseph Kopser Inc. — GJKINC — to mow lawns and babysit around the neighborhood. It was never a real corporation, just a kid's name for a real business.
The name is back as my workshop. The tools changed again: now it's AI as my shop crew. The feeling hasn't. Here's what's on the bench.
